Professional Development Programs

 

The APAes delivers a range of targeted professional development programs designed to assist members to:

  • Access and learn from the latest developments in the profession.

  • Refresh their knowledge of fundamental and advanced aesthetic therapy skills.

Our professional development programs also provide courses cover a wide range of subjects and disciples including Communications, Presentation Skills, Economics, Law, Management, Finance, Marketing and Corporate Leadership to enhance the conceptual skills of aestheticians. The APAes training group has formed numerous partnerships and alliances with the public and private sectors to ensure continuous review and improvement of content material and enabled APAes to develop new courses which meet the ever changing needs of modern workplaces and individual development.

 

 

Certified Practising Aesthetician (CPAes)

 

Certified Practising Aesthetician (CPAes) is the profession's performance measure and the industry's benchmark.


CPAes has been developed:

  • To define the aesthetics therapy profession by achieving a balance between experience and conceptual competence and establish an industry-recognised imprimatur.

  • To ensure that the aesthetic therapy profession continues to advance with knowledge and information expansion.

  • To protect the image of the profession by ensuring that only experienced and qualified practitioners are recognised as "professional aestheticians".

Under the advantageous  of CPAes, a Professional Development Programs (PDP) is provided to bridge the gap between the academic achievement of qualified aestheticians and hands-on experience of professional aesthetic therapy practitioners.

A professional development committee develops training policies and structured programs to assist aestheticians attain certifiable practising standards. These practising standards must be achieved through a combination of work experience within an aesthetic therapy environment and tertiary qualifications.

The academy offers a range of education, training and professional development programs that provide a path to attaining CPAes certification.

For those aestheticians (with CPAes Certification and/or CPAes Qualification and valid membership of APAes) who wish to gain direct admission to the university's business degree programs (Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of Commerce, etc), APAes in partnership with Asiainstitut of Management, AM School of Business Studies (AMSBS) provides the University Preparation Programs (UPP) for these selected group of aestheticians that on successfully completion of  the UPP and with good Grade Point Average (GPA), they can gain direct admission to the University of Canberra's degree programs and or other degree programs in the Commonwealth universities. Selected aestheticians will be given the Emmanuel Scholarship for the University Preparation Program.

 

Events

APAes has a comprehensive program of events, including evening seminars, business lunches, Special Interest Group meetings and networking opportunities. These events are available to members at special rates. In addition, the APAes holds a number of major conferences including the Annual APAes Conference is the premier event for the aesthetics therapy profession, involving leading business and aesthetics therapy professionals from Singapore and overseas.

Other conferences are held in collaboration with other industries on topics such as cosmetic science, spa management, Global e-business in the beauty and wellness industry etc. APAes members receive advance information and special registration rates for our conferences.

Collaboration with Asiainstitut of Management, AM School of Business Studies (AMSBS) offer the Joint AMSBS and APAes Qualification Programs: University Preparation Program (Diploma of Business Administration) and Certified Practising Aesthetician Qualification (CPAes Qualification). Successful selected applicants will be given full scholarships to pursue the CPAes Qualification. Commencing in 5th January 2009 (1 year full-time intensive classes).
